Not All Islands Are Created Equal

These are photos from Crystal Beach, Bolivar Peninsula, Texas. It is my island paradise when I need a quick getaway. I'll admit the water doesn't come close to that in the caribbean but the vibe is the same. These photos are of my Aunt and Uncles home and were taken about a year ago. Aren't the palm trees gorgeous?

Why am I in the city?

I'm living in Dallas, Texas because that's where my job is. I have to eat after all. I live and breathe the company I work for (it pays the bills) but I also live and breathe the island life (it soothes my soul). I have to tell you a little about myself. I am 40 years old and live with my boyfriend of 5 years. We are getting married in November of this year. We have a dream that we hope will become reality. We want to move to the islands. I actually live and work within 2 miles of where I was born....ugh! I certainly do not want to die 2 miles from where I was born. We are working on a five year plan. That's five short years to save enough money to make the big move. I invite you to join us on this journey. Will we accomplish our goal? I don't know but we will certainly have fun trying! Fill your glasses with rum and join us in a toast. Let the adventure begin...

Somewhere In The Sun

This is Trunk Bay, St. John, U.S.V.I. It's is one of the most photographed beaches in the world and I know why. I was there, standing behind the lense and able to take in the the beauty with my own eyes. I had this picture blown up and it hangs beside my desk. I stare at it everyday hoping somehow to be transported back to the island. I'm not sure where my love of the sand and sea came from, it could of had something to do with growing up in Florida or maybe it comes from within. I'm not sure but I do know that the only time I truly feel at peace is when I am standing on the shore gazing at the water and listening to the tide. Ahhh...Mother Nature at her finest.
